At the end of the 70’s and throughout the 80’s, she found tourists from all over the world who shared the house with our grandparents, spending long periods of stay in San Gimignano. It was the time when Grandma Tina hosted tourists in her own home and it was the time when San Gimignano had not yet known the tourist development of the nineties.
He has always impressed us with the will of our grandparents to open their home to visitors, enabling them to appreciate what San Gimignano was and what it meant to live in a city full of history like this.
In 1999, when I was studying at the University of Siena, together with Igor and my family, we decided to restructure the property and to resume the activity that our grandmother did, sharing with the guests from all over the world the uniqueness of San Gimignano and our structure in the historic center.
Since then, La Mezzana Rossa was born, taking its name from the typical Tuscan brick that characterizes the exposed roofs with wooden beams in Tuscany. Today La Mezzana Rossa is a large apartment of a three-hundred-year-old building in Piazza Sant’Agostino, one of the most quiet areas of the historic center of San Gimignano.
Mezzana Rossa offers guests various solutions, rooms and apartments, all within the only large apartment. After the 1999 work, Mezzana Rossa was restructured in 2008 with the aim of bringing to light the ancient structure and exalting its details.
Our philosophy is the value of hospitality, the discovery of the city and the territory from a suitable accommodation both for the weekend getaway and for the long international holidays. And above all, the opportunity to live as a local resident, far beyond being a simple tourist.
For us to welcome you to La Mezzana Rossa, to show you the views of the city, its most beautiful and hidden corners, being part of this experience will be a pleasure as well as an honor, informally and in a comfortable environment.
